Air New Zealand short-haul changes

For more than a year Air New Zealand have had a team working to gain a better understanding of what customers want from Air New Zealand when flying to/from Australia and the Pacific Islands.  The key finding has been ‘Choice’ – they want to be able to choose how they fly.

As a result Air New Zealand has now launched their new Australia and Pacific Islands service/product offering for sales from 29 April 2010 ex Christchurch to Sydney then progressively introduced on other Australian and Pacific Island routes.

They have developed four new products for you to choose between:
1. Seat only
2. Seat + Bag
3. The Works (plus a “Kids Works” option)
4. Works Deluxe

Essentially, on its A320 services Air NZ is scrapping business class and offering the four option flight menu.  See here for more details.

Customers invited to conjure up inflight inhancements

Customers invited to conjure up inflight inhancements

Air New Zealand has launched an Aviation Design Academy inviting customers from around the globe to get creative and conjure up innovative designs to enhance the in-flight experience on its new Boeing 777-300 aircraft which is still in development.  The Aviation Design Academy is looking for creative minds to concoct an original cocktail or premium Economy passengers, a mouth-wateringly tasty in-flight snack for Economy passengers and a stylish eye mask for Business premier passengers. If they prefer to talk the talk, rather than put pen to paper, they can also pitch their ideas via video – this is a separate category and will be judged purely on the creativeness of the pitch.

Anyone can enter, and choose to respond to any of the briefs, but if they’re feeling confident and their creative juices are flowing, they can go for all four. All designs need to be submitted by 26APR10.  Each of the four category winners will win two seats on the inaugural flight of the new B777-300 from Auckland to London in April 2011. They will also experience their winning design firsthand as they and the other passengers enjoy the new in-flight experiences.  To conjure up some inspiration, Air New Zealand has cast and filmed one of its multi-talented Auckland-based Engineers Duan Russell as he turns his hand to each of the briefs – Duan’s creative interpretations certainly provide consumers
visiting the site with some ideas and entertainment. See here for ideas.

Executive Travel close to the kitty

Executive Travel close to the kitty

Executive Travel got closer to the kitty this year in hosting more than 40 suppliers representing 33 supplier companies at their annual supplier bowls function held at Epsom Bowling Club.

“The continued support from our suppliers during a challenging year, were key to our success this past year, so this was an opportunity for us to show our appreciation” says Executive Travels Director, Kevin Weston.

The Executive team donned a bit of Kiwiana from the 80’s and everyone was split into teams for bowling. The 80’s music injected more fun and brought many nostalgic smiles and stories. “The enthusiasm & camaraderie was amazing. The weather blew over for us and it turned into a great way to spend an afternoon having fun with our supplier partners” says Mr Weston.

After bowling, everyone gathered over a BBQ dinner, drinks and much laughter for prize giving. Several outstanding performances were rewarded with DVD players, picnic gift packs and BBQ sets. Top bowler for the day was awarded to Kerry La Hood, Thrifty and David Manners, Malaysia Airlines. Kirstin Dundas, Air NZ was the clear winner of the most enthusiastic player of the day and Leah Johnson, Intrepid took home the boobie prize.
